Luiz Carlos Bresser-Pereira
Conferência ao receber o título e Professor honores Causae pela Escola de Economia da Universidade de Buenos Aires, 18 de outubro de 2011. This is the original speech.
The structuralist development macroeconomics and the corresponding national development strategy, new developmentalism that a group of mainly Latin American economists are developing may be seen as a second moment of the structuralist development economics. A demand-push approach and models like the one on the Dutch disease, on the critique of the "foreign constraint", on the tendency of the exchange rate to appreciate cyclically, and on the chronically overvalued character of the exchange rate in developing countries make put for the first time the exchange rate in the core of development economics.
